ECLIPSE(SHADE) // 06 moons // Future Windclanner // He/They // #ff9e42
A scruffy long-furred tortoiseshell tom with low white, large ears and sky blue and soft yellow heterochromia eyes
Son of ASTRO and NEBULA, sibling to TWINKLE and COMET
A young cat with a bit of an attitude, sometimes snarky but also loves to explore and fascinated with the stars.

It wasn't unusual for the trio of siblings to be sent out to the horseplace for a while until things back with their parents' twolegs cooled down, it had occurred more frequently lately too as the three had gotten older, Astro wanted to keep the trio safe from the twolegs who had been hounding his housefolk about the three so he often helped them sneak out just before the loud twolegs arrived so they could race off to the barns for hours at a time, they usually would always come back before dark though. This time was unusual though in the fact that there was only two of the trio there this time. Twinkle, their sister had left alongside their uncle, Jingle to join a bunch of other cats he knew nothing about-- Other then that they had apparently been living down by the water or something. Eclipse and Comet were originally planned to go with their sister in order to not separate the littermates, but only Twinkle had been awake and present when Jingle came to say his goodbyes.

It was odd being out here in the open golden fields without her here with him and Comet, it was a lot more quiet without her excitable ramblings but man she'd also been such a pain in the tail too! Eclipse hadn't even wanted to go with Jingle to whatever water soaked lands he was headed for and was glad he hadn't been able to go along! Water made his fur soggy and damp... He much preferred the big wide open spaces that the land here by the barns provided with how much he could stretch his legs as he raced across the rolling hills! But then, he also still dearly missed his sister even if he would never admit as much out loud. Would he ever get to see her and uncle Jingle again? Were they really going to be gone forever? And what about him and Comet? If they had to also be sent away for good so they weren't taken away by those rowdy twolegs then where would they go? Would Astro come with them? He hoped that if they had to leave for good too that they were sent somewhere like out here at the horseplace. He was sure too that Twinkle would be safe since she was with Jingle but he didn't know the other cats they had left with, he hoped that they would see the two again sometime...

Eclipse eventually slowed his pace and padded up to the barn he and his siblings frequented the most often whenever they had come out here, sitting down just outside its walls and tucking his tail around himself neatly before then looking back to see where his brother had gone off to. Maybe the pair of them could catch some mice together today! Or maybe a good race would get his mind off of all the questions he had brewing.

OOC: Their sister Twinkle leaves home in this thread, mentioning here as it is referenced in this thread as well!

Horseplace. It was a place, and it had horses, it was aptly named! Comet had been out there every now and then quite a few times by now alongside his siblings and father, Astro, every now and then. Comet's father had a looooooooooot of stories about this place, something to do with really old cats, old cats sooooo old compared to Comet that they were the dad of the dad of his own' dad''s dad! That's super old, but also kind of super cool actually? Comet did always like the stories that his father told, and he would miss hearing them so often. However, he wasn't really a cat to dwell on the past so much— at least as far as he would reveal or admit. Comet didn't really think about how those grumpy two-leg nest-visitors felt, he didn't like them, his father's two-legs were great though, and Comet hoped they could make the grumpy ones go away forever!

That wasn't where he was right now, he was going to Horseplace! While it was weird that his father, mother, uncle or even Twinkle weren't here, Comet was at least happy to have Eclipse nearby making the same trek as him. Nearby being used somewhat loosely, as Comet would often run off forward while keeping Eclipse in his view, only to run back, run around, and forward again. Comet was very good at running.

He had to admit though, this routine was still.. Strange, without Twinkle around at least. She'd be talking, making commentary on all sorts of pretty things that she saw, and Comet missed that. At least he could rest easy knowing that she was with uncle Jingle! Wherever they had said they were going, that.. Wetplace, Comet knew Eclipse would not be fond of, he never liked being wet, unlike Twinkle who would love to swim.

Comet had no real qualms about it, he just thought it was dumb that he couldn't run on water because it wasn't solid ground. These fields though, they were perrrrfect for running around which was why he had been doing so much of it! Soon enough he could see the barn that the trio of siblings would most frequent, it wasn't the biggest one, and kind of overgrown— of course there were bigger ones but this one was familiar. Comet scurried around the barn's perimeter and under a bush near the walls, rummaging around for something as Eclipse waited around. "Aha!" Comet mewed cheerfully, backing out from under that bush, bounding over to Eclipse. There was something in his mouth, a familiar toy, weathered and used over generations to the point that it could barely be distinguishable from a toy given to cats by two-legs, owned by their dad, and their dad before them, and then probably any number of those super old dad-cats from ages ago!

"Foun' ba'a." Comet said, with said ball still in his mouth.

Comet naturally would run off ahead and all around and this way and that-- At least he stayed within view or always came back quick enough to not cause worry whenever he did leave view. Eclipse's dual coloured eyes would follow him wherever he went and eventually Comet stopped all his racing about once he came back from a bush around the barn's walls, bounding back to Eclipse with something hanging from his jaws. "Eugh-- I don't remember it being so... Seasoned." He'd say brusquely while averting his brothers' gaze. The toy was so old it could hardly even still be called a ball anymore! But Comet of course was still going to play with it whether Eclipse joined him or not. "It's hardly holding itself together anymore! Don't you wanna play with something that's really worth the chase?"

"The barn always has mice scampering about the place, what if we tried catchin' some ourselves? It's just like playing with the ball but the ball runs on its own! Plus if we're gonna be coming out here more often like father said we would, then we might wanna start learning how to catch food for ourselves" Besides, he was certain that ball might just crumble to dust if they tried to play with it now! "C'mon Comet, it'll be fun!"

"Y're sayi'g t'at like y'd ead id? Nuh uh. T'ats Yu'ghy." Comet responded, with the old ball still in his mouth. It would be so much easier to talk and bring things to places if he had paws like the twolegs did. Sure' it'd look weird but it would work, right? Oh well, this wasn't the case, he had his paws, and they were good because they were his. He shook his head "Is a ba'a un'il is todlly done for. Y'member whad mama said, new toys o'ly come when th' ones you have can'n be toys an'mor'." Except for when Twinkle cobbled something together to use as a toy, she was really good at that. It was a shame that the boys wouldn't have access to stuff that their sister made for the foreseeable future if ever again.

That wasn't what they were here for though! They were here to find somewhere safe to be that was far enough away from those rowdy visitor twolegs that were rude to their own kind twolegs!

Scoring a meal or something did seem like a good idea though, the two had been walking (or in Comet's case mostly running) for a long while "Mice's nice I guess, can'ae r'ly smell 'em in this smol barn. Prob' hard t'find. Maybe d'big one h'a'em?" Comet looked out to the wider area, lots of land to get to running in eventually, a few horses, as this was horseplace and thus the place where the horses were. It would be really dumb to try to hunt them though, they were way too big. Probably didn't taste good either. Comet trotted along (not unlike a horse) to get a better view of other buildings as he spotted a larger barn nearby. "D'ere'i'is. Les'go, 'Clip!" He began walking that way, evidently insistent on keeping that ball too...

Eclipse gave an amused snort "You still have to carry it in your jaws to play with it properly-- Like you're doing now- You should spit it out who knows what kinda sickness you could get from having tha in your teeth!" He'd stick out his tongue in disgust at the thought, reaching out a paw to try and bap his brother on the head in a vain attempt to get him to drop the gross ball. If only Twinkle were here to make a new one out of like... Hay or something... "Mothers' not here though is she? I doubt she'd want you chewing on something so grimy and gross looking! Maybe we can put together a new one or something. If Twinkle can do it so can we, right?" Even he himself didn't sound so sure of that, their sister had always had a knack for that kind of thing, his ears drooped slightly as he thought about her-- He really did miss her, but she made her choice and they had made theirs!

Huffing slightly as he flicked his tail and looked to the bigger barn Comet had pointed out as being a potentially better place to go catch some mice. "We can try that one, it might have other cats though so we'll need to be careful and stay together" He'd put emphasis on the last part since he knew how much Comet loved to run off. Speaking of which he was already trotting on off towards the bigger barn! Eclipse hissed under his breath before racing to catch up to his brothers' side, bumping into him gently before twitching his whiskers after glancing at the mangled ball still in his brothers' mouth "You're not seriously bringing that along with, are you?" He'd shake his head, he was hoping Comet would return it to its usual hiding spot but oh well, it was them and the sad excuse of a ball against the barn mice he supposed.

When the small duo reached the bigger barn Eclipse would look up at it with wide rounded eyes, his nose twitching to try and get a good scent of mice-- Or cats in case they had unwelcome company. The scent of mice flooded his nose though and his tail began to whip back and forth wildly at the thought of catching one! "There's so many here! How many do you think we can catch? We could make it a game even!"

HOOT(WHISKER), 125 Moons // Barncat // He/They // #ffebcd
Chocolate spotted tabby with pronounced countershading and golden eyes.
Father to OWL(BEAR) and CHICKEN(SCRATCH)
Gruff and a little on the grumpy side around cats he's not familiar with. Big family man, adores his kids! Loves to tell stories and teach younger cats especially kits all he can. Might talk your ears off though. Some of his stories might be a little exaggerated but no cat is old enough to debunk them!

Hoot was up on his usual favourite spot to rest, the highest wooden beam of the barn! His kin had said he shouldn't continue going up there given his age especially but this old man couldn't be slowed down! He liked the little bit of danger that came with climbing up and down from the spot and it was always worth it once he reached there too. It gave him a good owls' view of the barn below! The older cat had just started to fall into a deep slumber in the spot when the mewing of cats he'd not heard before caught his ear. At first he tried to shrug it off thinking it was just cats passing by and they'd pipe down soon enough but then the voices only got closer and closer.

Frowning he'd open one golden eye and peer down, spotting the shapes of what appeared to be two younger cats slowly entering the barn "Ay, now what's with all this 'ere racket down therr! Don'tcha know some cats are tryna sleep in 'ere!" He'd yowl grumpily, his long feathery whiskers twitching indignantly.

"Nuh uh! s'fine!" Comet shook his head to get away from the bapping from his brother. Comet had seen other cats play with roaches and other far grosser things, this mossy ball was perfectly okay in his mind. Eclipse kind of had a point when he mentioned that their mother was not present; he had spoken a fact, and it wasn't like the pair of them were the angel boys that followed every rule since they did pull pranks a bunch. Even so, Comet took what his parents said pretty seriously and narrowed his eyes. "So? I'cn follo' da rul's ev'n if she in't 'ere." Admittedly, he was also very obviously attached to this ball in particular given its sentimental value overall. "Buh'thr you'n'me bof' gno dat 'Inkle wa' way bedder ad id." Comet snorted. The last time he tried to make something like their sister did it ended up broken within minutes.

Comet slowed down just enough for Eclipse to catch up, he probably should've waited at least a little bit before just walking away admittedly. "So'ey." He apologized, only to huff. "Yea'hg." Of course he was bringing the ball! Wasn't that obvious?

Eventually they reached the much more promising barn, to the delight of both of them the scent and scurrying sounds of mice seemed to be aplenty. In addition to that, there were a lot of cat scents, so clearly this was a popular spot to catch mice, or maybe some cats even lived here? It was certainly large enough to house a lot. "I'unno.. eighd?" Comet guessed, four mice between the two of them seemed possible in his head.

The thought was disturbed when he heard the grumbling of an elderly voice, a much much older cat had spotted them. Comet tilted his head, he didn't think that he and his brother were being too loud. Excitable sure, but Comet didn't believe loud was the right word for it. "Den why'r' you' yelli'g sir?" He responded innocently, once again disregarding that he was carrying his ball.

"You never follow any of her other rules! Why follow this one specifically?" Eclipse rolled his dual-coloured eyes, he couldn't understand his brothers' ways. Why follow one rule but not the others! It simply didn't make sense. He would much rather break all the rules then listen to some or all of them! Things were much more fun that way! Comet seemed to really want to stick with the ball though no matter how gross it seemed to be and Eclipse wasn't about to fight it off of him so for now he'd let it be. "Yeah... Makes you kinda miss her though, doesn't it?" Typical Eclipse wasn't about to admit outright that he himself missed her though so he'd quickly move on.

The tortoishell thought his brother was maybe overconfident in the amount the two of them would truly end up catching but it wasn't like Eclipse of all cats was going to talk himself down! It was a somewhat high bar for two young cats who hadn't really gone hunting much before now but if Comet reckoned they could catch eight between the two of them then Eclipse wanted to aim for ten instead! Did they really need ten mice? Not really... But-- His pelt prickled and his tail bushed up at the indignant yowling of another cat he hadn't met before-- At first glance he had thought he was looking up at an actual owl perched high up inside the barn! Which frightened him as some owls would be big enough to pick him and his brother up and fly off with them! But that owl turned out to actually be a cat and one who seemed bothered by the two's entrance.

"C'mon Comet we should probably go elsewhere for food" Eclipse would quickly whisper to his brother who seemed completely unbothered by the exchange as a whole "The mice probably aren't worth the hassle this old geezer is no doubt gonna give us" Always the one to jump straight into defensive's! Or was this offensive since he was doing the insulting? Either way he was always the first to jump to it.

Both of the cats reacted to his presence quite differently from one another, the one with... Was that a ball? In his gob, seemed unbothered and even asked Hoot why he was yelling then if cats were tryna sleep-- A good point the young lad made there! The old tom would open his mouth to reply but closed it again with no response, the younger tom had gotten him there honestly! Yowling would no doubt wake every cat up after all. His brother though was quick to become a ball of fluffed up fur and would try and encourage the pair of them go elsewhere. The old tabby tom would get to his paws and pick his way down the wooden barn at faster speeds thought possible for a cat his age, landing heavily on his large paws on a pile of hay which he used to slide down to the floor of the barn nearby the two newcomers. He might be getting on in moons but he was still quite a ferocious looking cat when he wanted to be!

Though he could see just fine from all the way up on his favourite beam it was a lot easier to see now that these two were very young cats, not much older then one would be when allowed away from their parents for the first time. To him they were practically kittens! "Jus' because I'm old don't mean I can't still 'ear ya lad. Where are ya manners!?" He bellowed down at the tortoiseshell of the two young toms, though he noticeably softened his demeanor afterwards, they were just wee little things he couldn't be too harsh on them and by comparison Hoot was a much much larger and overall more broad cat then both brothers combined! He would sit down in front of the two and tilt his head to the side a bit like an owl would do. "I wouldn't wanna see no cat go hungry especially two youngsters like yerselves, there's plenty o'mice to go 'round" He'd mew more softly this time, "What're your names? Can't say I've seen ya faces 'round here before"

"Ughm, yaagh I do!! S'you dat doe'n'!" Comet retorted, now there's the cheeky side of him. Either way, he did so follow more than just a pitiful one of their mother's rules! Comet would normally stick his tongue out at Eclipse for this but he was busy with the ball. To Comet, some rules were necessary, even unavoidable, there was logic that could not be broken. For instance, the stars in the sky followed rules, his dad said so, and he was right. "Kin'a? Y'mean a lodd" Comet plainly and bluntly called Eclipse's bluff, knowing exactly what was meant— he agreed to, and was much more open to saying so.

Comet looked up kind of blankly at the older cat, kind of confused as to why they didn't respond to what he had said to them. The younger cat had no idea that he had effectively displayed that he could be the reason for the saying 'cats got your tongue'. Comet huffed when Eclipse started giving off a pretty crummy first impression. Neither of the brothers really did anything wrong nor did the older cat! There was no need for conflict here as far as Comet was concerned. "Ptooey!" Comet spat his ball at Eclipse as a warning, but he didn't do it hard since he didn't want to actually harm him. "Hey, don't be mean, being old isn't a bad thing..!" Comet chuckled, a bit more of his cheekiness coming through. "With any luck we'll be much older one day! If there's heaps of mice here that should be really easy to do!" He smiled, looking up to the older cat. "I'm Comet, sir! This is my brother," He moved to gently nudge Eclipse into introducing himself before blinking a few times, realizing he had dropped the ball. "Ohp, ball." He said, quickly picking it back up.
