Welcome to the character check-in, where we'll confirm your kitty is fit for this universe at a glance!

For further assistance and a more detailed walkthrough see our Tutorial in the second post!

All you need to do is review the below information and then make a SEPARATE THREAD with:
  • Your character's prefix.
    • For cats not starting in a clan include their FUTURE clan prefix and not just their pre-clan name. This is to allow us to verify if the name is legal! You can ask about it first in our name-check channel in the discord server!
    • Suffix is optional if you're still thinking!
    • Kits being named in-character can skip the name, however it's up to you to verify the name is one we allow before committing.
  • Reference for their description.
    • THIS IS REQUIRED. This is so we can ensure the designs fit our semi-realistic guidelines!
    • If you have no visual you can opt instead to include a detailed summary or even hexcode colors/a palette to get your point across!
    • Please avoid using Discord images, as those break after 24 hours, leaving us unable to check your character's design!
  • Your Clan.
    • Or nonclan affiliation. This is just for our personal roster where we keep track of all the characters made and their players! You can view it HERE!
  • Your Rank.
    • Viable for clan cats only or nonclanners with plans to join a clan later.

All character's must be checked in. There are no exceptions.

Prefixes are the first part of a character's name in the Warrior Cat Universe!
We allow a very broad range of Prefix options and as such we ask that you engage courteously with those who are currently actively using a prefix and make the effort to ask about their boundaries. However, we do not actively track or discourage multiple prefixes in a clan.
The CURRENT Leader, Deputy and Medicine Cat get their prefixes blacklisted from use. In addition to allowing them to remain unique for history upkeep purposes, it would also not make sense in-character to name a cat after another clan's leader etc, etc…

Suffix Guide

Unlike a Prefix which is given at birth and does not tend to lend itself to describing the character's traits outside perhaps appearance, a suffix is given by the clan leader in honor of some skill, ability or moment that they feel encompasses that warrior fully. Often times it will be about their strengths, rarely will a leader name for a character's faults unless it is in-character for them and pre-discussed. When choosing a name for your character keep in mind that you are also picking a suffix that the current leader (or past leader depending on age/timeline) would have chosen.

On each clan guide you will find a section dedicated to that Leader's Guidelines, Traditions and Rules regarding Naming cats! Make sure you give it a glance over before submitting a cat to be checked-inn as choosing unorthodox names that could be considered too odd, cruel, dark or out of character is accidental powerplay on behalf of that clan leader! We want to allow people's characters to remain in-character while also giving creative freedom for suffixes so communicate with your clan leader to find a healthy compromise.

A suffix is not required for a check-in. We often encourage this as you can discuss with a clan leader what they might've named a cat you are introducing and we do not allow cats with the exact same names so if a Fuzzyclaw exists, your Fuzzypaw must be named something else!

Purrgatory runs off a simple registration system, and that is our character check-ins. We do not require personalities, histories, or completed bios - just the basics and you'll be writing new clan histories in no time. Please familiarize yourself with the process below to begin.

Please note that all characters must be checked-in. There are no exceptions. You can see the form and required info reasoning HERE!

Once you have an idea of what you want your prefix to be, it's time to head over to Character Check In and make a thread. Threads do not have include any particular information in the title. Please allow the staff team up to 48 hours to review and approve your check-in before sending a reminder.​

The content of your check-in thread should include the following AT MINIMUM:
  • Character name (prefix/suffix). For cats not starting in a clan, include their future clan prefix and not just their pre-clan name so we can make sure its allowed! You do not have to pick a suffix at time of check-in, though it is recommended just for our reference. Once you've made a subaccount, head on over to the RP sections and feel free to go wild! If you'd like, create a character profile so others can familiarize themselves with your character! And don't forget to grab your clan role from THE GROUP ASSIGNMENT section of the shop! Happy roleplaying!

CHANGING DETAILS & RETURNING MEMBERS

For a character that will be named in-character, how do I check in their (not given) name?
> Submit a check-in as normal with TBD- listed as their prefix, which lets staff know that this character be approved in the interim. Once a name is chosen, you'll need to edit the original check in to reflect the name. It is the responsibility of all parties involved in the IC naming to make sure that the name chosen is allowed. Please check with the staff team if you are unsure.

I want to edit or change the design of a cat I already checked in.
> Edit your check in with a note that you are changing the design. Please include the new design in the updated check-in.

I want to change the prefix of an already approved cat.
> Resubmit your check-in as if you are making a new one with a note and link to the one it's replacing. We'll make sure its allowed and then re-approve you!
