Owlbark collected the apprentice as she was brought back to camp. He spared her no words or comforts as she waltzed in with scratches from enemy lines. Webpaw had trespassed SkyClan on purpose, engaged in combat, and then showed no remorse. In a different scenario, he would have commemorated her for her bravery, but that it was SkyClan, she was a fool. He had no want to repair their clans' bond, but he also was not keen on making it worse. As it currently stood, Juniperstar gave a life for his impulses.

The deputy still gave Webpaw no words, but gestured with his head to follow him. As soon as he entered the leader's den, Owlbark lost his cool composure. His head sank low and his ears pressed firmly against his skull. He was close to baring his fangs in anger at Webpaw, but held himself back that much. "Foolish!" He growled, tail lashing behind him. "Explain to your leader what you thought would happen by walking into enemy territory."

Owlbark sat on the edge of the den, ready to step in for Juniperstar if this cocky apprentice tried to mouth off. He found himself responsible for the apprentices in some way - as the one in charge of their mentors. One slight made by the young learning caste of the clan was an insight at their mentors' teaching failures. He would have to speak to Dewshine privately about this matter.

Webpaw may be bold and reckless, but she at least had respect for her leader and deputy. They had earned those positions. Juniperstar had died for it. She obediently followed Owlbark back to camp, and directly into Juniperstar's den. Whatever punishment she was due, she knew she'd earn it- though she'd defend her actions as much as needed.

When Owlbark began laying into her, she couldn't help shrinking down a bit. Her ears flattened and her eyes grew wide. He was furious.

"It was all stupid at first," she mewed. "I thought I could check out the border, then come back with a little bit of information to help our clan. Like a lay of the land sort of thing. But then that stupid apprentice showed up and called us murderers and I just... He attacked me first by the way!" The words began tumbling out of her mouth. "He attacked me, so I fought back, and then he called all of us murderers. Then that other one showed up and she insulted you, Owlbark, and... and then Juniperstar showed up. I wasn't planning on causing trouble or staying there long, but it all just. Got out of control."

"and this time, she won't be forgiving"
she had made her feelings clear on that border when she'd found Webpaw. the fact Owlbark matched her irritation was unsurprising, though he had the dignity not to say anything on the way back to her den. Juniperstar eyes Webpaw up with a sort of disappointed resignation, certain that if this is the feeling of one apprentice, they were in for many more surprises of this kind someday. she allows her deputy to spout off his frustration, plainly setting the stage for what was a foolish endeavor and demanding an explanation for the spotted tabby to place judgement over. she watches, as Webpaw's confidence melts into something like a tantrum, defensive and overwhelmed by the conflict.

she was trying to help... but had only made things worse. it was often what children did. "Why are you so hurt by their words? You understand plenty well that we are murderers, so why would their opinion matter in the slightest?" it is the same lack of care Juniperstar has afforded them, only willing to offer up the flesh between her chest and chin to satiate a bloodlust that would've slaughtered her deputy instead. did that not prove something about their nature as a clan? a willingness towards compromise and peace? besides... another apprentice spouting off hardly mattered in SkyClan's greater culture when it was their leader who flew off the handle. "Neither myself nor Owlbark are in need of you defending our reputations." her tail flicks, looking towards Owlbark in a bid for him to find some amount of patience; this fight was in part a rallied cause to protect him, even if naively sought out.

"Regardless of who started it, you found your way on the wrong side of their borders... that can't be ignored, Webpaw."
