PEBBLEDREAM ──
riverclan | warrior
When last night's meeting had come to a close, Pebbledream had been sure to tell Twigpaw to rest, though they hope that she'd managed to get a bit more shut-eye than they had. Despite laying in their nest, moonlight peeking through the walls of the warrior's den, Pebbledream had found themself too excited and eager to train their new apprentice to sleep well. Ironic; usually it's the apprentice who is the most excited for training.

When dawn finally comes, they are quick to rise and pad over to the apprentice's den, waking Twigpaw and allowing her a short time to rise to her paws. Sunlight spills over the horizon as Pebbledream leads her through the frost-covered territory of RiverClan, speaking as they head toward their destination.
"Today is your first as my apprentice, and I hope that you are as eager as I am to jump right into your training. I've already planned what we'll be doing today - I want to try and get a feel for how skilled you already are, so we can work together on enhancing your strengths and improving upon your weaknesses."
Their trek finally leads the cats to the ash glade, and Pebbledream stops a few paces ahead of Twigpaw. They take a deep breath, the scent of morning dew and sunshine revitalizing them after the long walk here. Turning to their apprentice, they suddenly crouch down, deep blue eyes sweeping over her with a look of determination.
"Now - whenever you're ready - try to attack me. I want to see how well you fare in combat."

The piebald feline padded alongside her new mentor, Pebbledream, feeling a bit chilled by the cool morning air. She moved timidly, glancing every few moments up to Pebble, unsure of what to make of her new mentor. Would they be kind? Forceful? Considerate? Stern? Twigpaw glanced at her paws as she walked. Perhaps they won't be too harsh…

Twigpaw didn't mind being awoken earlier, though it was odd for the apprentice, given she hadn't been training for a whole moon. There was the time she went out with a few apprentices and the deputy, which for the most part went well. It was anxiety-inducing with all those extra eyes.

The apprentice stopped a ways behind Pebbledream once they reached the ash glade, listening attentively to her mentor's words. I bet I have too many weaknesses to count. Twigpaw flicked her tail in anticipation.

"Now - whenever you're ready - try to attack me. I want to see how well you fare in combat."

"Alright, I'll try…" Twigpaw let out, almost in a whisper. Mustering up as much courage as she could, the piebald apprentice crouched, and taking a deep breath, sprang towards the blue eyed warrior in front of her.

The earth was soft and cool beneath her paws for a few paces, until she finally leapt to the right, attempting to curve and hit, softly, Pebbledream's left flank.

Pebbledream watches Twigpaw intently as she runs up to them, their eyes darting to the left as they trail after her paw that aims for their flank. Swiftly, they leap back, twisting around on a forepaw - Twigpaw's paw just barely brushes past the ends of their fur. Their paws barely meet with the ash-dusted ground when they spring forward, aiming to push Twigpaw off-balance and onto her back.

"The flank is a prime spot to aim for,"
they commend her, "But it can prove difficult to land a hit on when in plain sight of your opponent." Still, they find themself impressed by the way she'd swerved to the side so efficiently; perhaps there is potential in encouraging her to focus on that. The ability to weave so quickly back and forth could prove useful for a range of things, not even just combat. "My advantage as your opponent is that I'm bigger than you - it's easier for me to knock you off-balance. But you being smaller can allow you to slip right through my paws in a way that I can't. Here, try again." Pebbledream backs away with an approving dip of their head, waiting for her next attack.
