Well I know you're afraid,
but if even just one of us has faith...

TWINKLE(TUFT), She/Her / 8 moons / Riverclan Apprentice
Fluffy rosetted silver tabby molly with tweed white hairs and soft blue eyes
Daughter of ASTRO and NEBULA, Sibling to COMET(TAIL), & ECLIPSE(SHADE)
Whimsical and oddly wise beyond her years if not a bit silly, has dexterous paws that are good for making things, goofy and bluntly honest

After bumping into Wavesong, a few of Twinklepaw's worries were put to rest. That was good, it was a good first step, less worries meant that she could pose questions better. Now with some sort of direction, Twinklepaw looked around camp again. She was hoping to find Adderfang, who she would assume isn't at the medicine cat den at this point even in the time that Twinklepaw was talking to Wavesong.

Besides, she had no reason to believe that Adderfang would go back there so soon. If something went wrong, wrong enough to have her uncle Jinglemoon to enough pressure that caused him to leave camp, then she had no idea what went through Adderfang's mind in the same regard.

That is, not without finding him and asking him outright.

The only thing to find out for sure is where the guy was. Ruling out the medicine cat den and the leader's den first off, Twinklepaw checked the open areas first, nothing. A few hideaways, nothing. She even went so far as to peek into the nursery—and why look for Adderfang there of all places? Because it was just absurd enough to be a possible hiding spot! Twinklepaw wasn't going to rule that out, it was best to be thorough.

Again, Adderfang wasn't there either. So the next logical step was to check the boundaries of camp. Even with reassurance from Wavesong that Adderfang wouldn't go too far for a multitude of reasons, Twinklepaw had to wonder what could burden him so. Just how horribly did that council meeting go?

"Now where is he..?" Twinklepaw pouted slightly. She wanted to give Adderfang the time he needed, but she also had to speak to the others too.

You can be certain that some day—
All of our dreams will come true!

Adderfang knew he shouldn't have left camp. He knew it would worry Wavesong, his kits, but his mind and his paws weren't in sync. He didn't get far—just enough that camp was out of sight and he could stew in his frustrations without an audience. His paws had taken him down the stream a ways, and there he plopped down with a grunt.

Normally, he would've fished or taken a dip to cool off, but he was in no shape for that now. Even the short tromp out of camp had drained him. He ached in places he had no business aching. His wounds stung—one of them, he was sure was leaking again. The breeze blew its cooling breath over the damp spot.

"Cowardly, power-tripping bastard." He seethed, slapping the water hard enough to send spray in every direction. "Oh and course I'm the bad guy for callin' it like it is? What did he think was gonna happen after he screwed up that bad? Even goin' into mentioning Maremane like I wasn't right about that too? He really is a soft-bellied fool." He grumbled under his breath, fur feathering as he shook the water from his pelt.

Pikestar's softness would be the end of him. Wasn't hard to see that he'd not suffered a day in his life up til now. The way he handled Maremane and then ShadowClan said as much. He had too much faith in the strangers they met, and now it'd resulted in real consequences.

All that and then the scene in the medicine den was just proof that he hadn't learned a single damned thing since becoming leader.

Adderfang shifted, legs jutting at an angle to ease the pain shooting up his spine. Thoughts crashed around his skull like a ship in a storm, wind whirling his thoughts around him, too fast to grab onto.

Half the time, he wondered if Pikestar said things just to get a rise out of him. That wouldn't surprise him. But Jinglemoon? "Where do they get off treatin' me like a kit? Especially after I risked my life to protect us!" His paw slammed through the water again, nostrils flaring.

But it wasn't just Jinglemoon. Pineheart. Russetfall. They'd all set their teeth into him when he needed their support most. Maybe that was his fault for hoping they'd be on the same page for once. They might as well have been strangers sitting in that den.
