Not some average bones, I believe in love!

Torrentpaw's eyes opened slowly as he stared towards the entrance of the apprentice's den, watching the shadows dance against the moonlight as a swift breeze flowed through Riverclan's camp. With a groan, the young tom rolled over as restlessness nagged at his limbs, accepting the fact that he probably wouldn't be getting much sleep tonight. Resting his head on his paws with a soft exhale, Torrentpaw's gaze flickered across his sleeping clanmate's pelts, watching as their sides rose and fell peacefully.

A sudden reflection of light caught Torrentpaw's eye, and he immediately recognized Sharkpaw's gaze. He guessed it wasn't unusual for the bicolor tom to be awake at this hour, a memory of Sharkpaw waking him to venture out into Riverclan territory flashing into his mind. Taking a few quick glances across the other apprentices to make sure no one else was stirring awake, Torrentpaw rose to his paws quietly.

Placing soft pawsteps over his clanmates, Torrentpaw slowly made his way over to Sharkpaw's nest. Lowering his head to his friend's as he reached the other, his whiskers twitched in a friendly manner.

"I can't sleep either," Torrentpaw admitted, settling down onto his haunches as he whispered. "what's keeping you up?"

SHARKPAW
THERE'S BLOOD IN THE WATER

-- 11 MOONS
-- RIVERCLAN APPRENTICE
-- HE/HIM | SINGLE | HOMOSEXUAL
Most nights, Sharkpaw slept just fine. The older he got, the less his mind seemed to focus on the trauma that sat within his childhood. Maybe two, three times a month tops he'd find himself feeling too restless to pass out, or jolted awake by some less than plesant dream– only half of which featured his parents. The rest of the time, it preyed on whatever insecurity it saw fit.

Tonight it'd been the shipyard. He'd dreamt that not a single cat had even looked his way after his stubborn declaration to stay behind. That no concerned face had gone trailing after him to convince him to go. Instead, Shark had stood there and watched as the entire group just fussed over one another and walked away– as if he hadn't even been there to begin with. And while he didn't remember the details all that well after waking up, the lingering sense of sadness and hurt had settled deep in his chest.

A reminder, that he was far from the most important thing in any cats life because he'd killed the two cats who weren't to love him most.

As he lay there, debating on whether to just get up for a bit or not, he was surprised to catch the eye of another cat. Torrentpaw? He watched the other cat quietly get to their paws, tracking them with aqua eyes as they carefully picked their way around the nests of sleeping clanmates to settle beside him.

"Who knows." he answered, matching the others hushed volume while simultaneously shrugging it off as anything specific. "Probably just didn't get enough energy out while training today. We should go to the ash glade tomorrow to practice more of those moves we've been working on. I've got a new one I want us to try."

Deflection at it's fines, but not exactly dishonest. The grey and white youth had been toying with an idea he wanted to fine tune and try out, after all, and wiping himself out during the day usually did result in a better nights rest afterward.

"What about you? Silverpaws snoring keeping you up?" he teased, the subtle upward curve of his lips faltering only when one of the nearby apprentices stirred slightly, reminding him they needed to be quiet. The two of them could leave-- it wasn't like Shark hadn't dragged them out into the night before-- but to be honest, the boy was tired even if his brain didn't want to co-operate by letting him sleep. Running around didn't exactly sound appealing right then. So, instead, he shifted over in his nest to make room and gestured for the other to join him.
