{$title} galepaw formally introduces himself to a kitten he's had his eye on for a while
—————————————————— Rocked by an endless motion ✦

It was watching, as it often did. Even when curled upon a rock somewhere in the camp, or tucked away in some hidden crevice or crack, it was watching. Even asleep, the birds watched for himthough getting anything worthwhile out of them was an entirely different story. They were distractible, hare-brained, flighty little things. Birdsong was nothing more than information to him these days, each whistling note telling him some piece of information about the world around him... though he really didn't need to know so much about bugs. The birds were cawing a new song today, though. One that warned him of little paws, devilish little beasts scampering after everything that moved. Little things that mewled and scrapped for any sort of attention. Stared with big, wet eyes, begging for anyone to notice. Ah, Wave's kittens must be free.

Gale had his eyes on a few of the little scraps of fur, interestedly noting each flawed step, each miscalculated leap. It was not often they got to see such nature in progress, little hearts hammering away in such small chests. It was not all that long ago he watched them be born, watched them fight for their first gasp of air. And.... well, fight the ground, it seemed.

A singular brow raised quietly as he watched the palest of the bunch seem to scrabble with the floor, digging little trenches with impossibly small claws. At first, the tom merely assumed he was digging for some kind of grub beneath the surface... that is, until the pathetic mewling hit his spiraled ears. By all the stars above, was he stuck? After a moment of watching with interest, the pale lynxpoint sighed gently and roused himself from his place of watching. With gentle steps, he neared the kit. Galepaw couldn't help but pause and regard the struggling beast, little paws flailing for any sort of grasp. This sort of situation could be comical to some, but others...

The calls of the birds made his ears twitch, hungry jeers at the little helpless thing. They wouldn't dare come close to the camp, not when Galepaw was around anyhow, but it didn't stop the hungry cries at such easy prey. With a gentle scoff at the reminder of mortality, Gale leaned down and secured his teeth to the little things fragile tail. With an easy tug, the kit came loose with a resounding Pop!

"Foamkit, is it?" Gale greeted him softly, blue eyes devoid of much emotion regarding the pale kit. It knew who he was, of course he knew who he was, but feigning ignorance often went much better he found. The tom peered over at the ragged hole that Foam had found himself in and let out a soft whistle. It must've been some long-dead vole's hole, or some other kits creative project that had gone forgotten. "Awful deep hole you found yourself in." It noted impassively.

Round, wide eyes found soft blue ones. He blinked away the gleam threatening to spill over his waterlines. Foamkit's mouth opened and shut as the apprentice scanned over the hole he'd been stuck in, then quickly decided to stay closed as he nodded. He wished he could recall the other's name. The litter had so many visitors, cats who talked at them and to them, their smiles bright as the outside. Since he had learned many more words, he had often talked so much he forgot the names echoed at him before they had even left the nursery.

"Yeah! I -" His still-stubby tail thumped as he pouted. "I just wanted to 'splore it... It's too small, and I thought I'd never get out!" It had been centuries of him half-stuck, the layers of earth muffling any voices outside, no indicators his cries for help would be heard. But it hadn't stayed that way -- he'd been saved!

"You got me unstuck," Foamkit chirped. "Thank you...!" His gaze lowered to the ground, ears heating at not remembering the wispy apprentice's name. It had certainly visited, talking to Ma. It was one of Ma's friends! He furrowed his brows, eyes squeezed shut as he sorted through his little collection of memories. Which probably looked really stupid, so he shook out of it moments later.

Voice quieter, he mumbled, "I was thinking of going in it ever since yesterday... Now I don't know what to do..." The camp's wide view was shrinking by the second, morphing into something that wasn't the broad window he had viewed from the nursery. Still, every cat passing by caught his attention, dragging his focus and his eyes with them until another cat came along.
