There was a barely-contained giddiness in her step as she trotted toward the medicine den, paws light, tail high, and mischief practically sparkling in her eyes. Something had settled in her belly, not the queasy kind, but the fluttering, telltale sort she remembered. The kind that had whispered to her the last time, before her first litter came into the world mewling and beautiful. She wasn't showing yet, if she was pregnant at all, but her gut was never wrong. Not about this. She peeked her head inside the den, her voice sing-song and warm. " Jinglebingle~! " she called out, a grin playing on her lips. " Ahoy, sweet bells! "

The scent of herbs washed over her like a wave, grounding yet invigorating, as she stepped fully inside. Her purr rumbled low in her throat as her eyes scanned the den for the familiar face she hoped would be there, Jinglemoon, or perhaps Rainpaw, but preferably the former. There was something conspiratorial in her energy, a secret stitched tight into the curl of her whiskers. " I need yer... expertise on a matter most delicate. " she purred, lowering her voice, her tail swishing with electric excitement. " If ye've got time t'spare, that is. I've got a feelin', and ye know I'm a woman who listens to her gut. "

She paused, nose twitching, eyes darting to the den entrance to ensure there were no curious ears nearby. Then she leaned in, her voice dropping to a whisper, breath warm and tinged with anticipation. " I think I'm pregnant again, sweet bells. " Her ears gave a tiny flick as the words left her, like a spark igniting something unspoken. " But I need yer help t'know for sure. Just t'be certain. 'Cause if I am... oh, stars help me, I want t'know soon as I can. " She had things to prepare for, after all! See if Littlebrook was willing to share training Galepaw together with her... See how her kits would react and stars above, how the clan would react.

Her fur fluffed slightly in excitement, a purr trembling beneath her ribs. Whatever this next chapter held, she wanted Jinglemoon to be the second to know... Trusted, steady, and always there when she needed her most.

Jinglemoon's face still stung from the injuries he'd sustained the night ShadowClan had raided their territory and the medicine den of herbs. He'd been trying to look on the bright side as best as he could, it would be a good learning experience for Rainpaw for one and he'd been patient in trying to teach her how to patch up his injuries even if it hurt. He knew too that he had been lucky by comparison to only get the little battering that he had gotten but it wasn't even the part that had left him most sore. That was instead owned by how their Clans' kindness seemed to have been taken for granted, it had left him with a very bitter taste in his maw and he'd be lying if he said he said he wasn't at all bothered by it. Could RiverClan continue with their current attitude towards the other clans? ShadowClan hadn't even shared borders with RiverClan when they pulled their heist which suggested to him that it was very much targeted, they knew what they were coming for, where to get it and they did not care if they were trespassing nor stealing in order to get it, they also seemingly didn't care to try asking for assistance first.

He felt almost frustrated with himself for knowing that he would have very willingly helped the ShadowClan cats if they had of just asked for it first, knowing now what they were capable of and willing to do to get what they wanted, maybe he ought to work on that bleeding heart of his in the future... A part of him still worried that the other Clan must really be suffering to have resorted to what they did that night but logic told him they were also proud about what they had done. Either way, he would be asking for some fighting training for himself in order to help keep Rainpaw safer in the future. Poor Rainpaw, he'd still felt terrible for her most. He had kept her safe sure but what a scary night it must have been for his young apprentice to witness. The thoughts of that night running back through his mind made him snarl in frustration, his claws unsheathing briefly as he thought back to the cat that had injured him in this very den. In his medicine den.

The medicine cat was snapped back out of his thoughts at the sound of giddy pawsteps entering the den though and turned away from his ruined stores to see Wavesong! Jinglemoon definitely looked more tired then his usual self but the bitterness about that night could not win over how glad he was to see a friendly face-- And a very cheerful one at that! "Wavesong! Please, come on in Captain"

He was glad to hear that her nicknames for him had stuck too like how Peachy's had and it'd help him to muster up a smile of his own as she stepped inside the medicine den. His time to spare had been cut drastically after the heist on their land but if there was anything that Jinglemoon was stubborn on it was on being able to help other cats even if he knew he was stretching himself thin. "I've always got time to lend you a paw, Wavesong, what d'you need?" He purred, his tail curling curiously as he listened and watched her check the entrance once before continuing in a whisper.

The medicine cat had to stop himself from exclaiming his surprise as she whispered the news-- She had whispered for a reason and he had better not spoil the surprise! Swallowing his delighted yowl he'd instead opt for a gentle purr back, seeming to gain a bit more life back to his eyes at finally having some good news! "Great stars above! O-of course! I'll check for you to make sure though I'm certain your gut is right! It's never steered you wrong before. Come take up a nest! Is this one cozy enough? I could ask Rainpaw or one of the other apprentices for more moss if you need it-- You just lay down and make yourself comfortable" He did his best to contain his excitement for his friend but it was obviously spilling into hushed mews as he hurried to the nearest nest and circled it, looking back to Wavesong to make sure she had followed.

The mention of Rainpaw got him thinking though, that this might be a good opportunity for her to learn more outside of just the tending to wounds part of their role, StarClan knows she too could do with some good news right about now as well as something else to do other than seeing just the messy side of being a medicine cat. "Would it be okay if Rainpaw assists me as well Captain? It'd be a good opportunity to teach her a little of the more gentle side of our job" She had been dealing with too much blood too soon for his liking... Had he been wrong to take on an apprentice, would she of been spared from the horrors more as a warrior apprentice? Or would she of been one of the other patients now in need of the herbs that had been stolen from them?

That weight Phloxwish had told him about weighed heavily on his spine now...

And that's why we share all we have with you
Though there's little to be found
When all you've got is nothing
There's a lot to go around

" Aye, no need t'call me cap'n, m'dear heart! " laughed Wavesong, her voice rich with that signature warmth only she could muster. She sat tall, pride lighting up her black-and-white face like sun on water, her eyes alight as she shared the reason she'd come. Despite the weight pressing down on the Clan, the ache, the fear, the bitter taste ShadowClan had left behind... She really hoped this would bring a spark of joy. The thought of tiny paws skittering across camp, of high-pitched voices ringing out again… It stirred something soft inside her. Hope, maybe. Fragile, but still burning.

Her gaze drifted to her injured friend, and for a heartbeat, the gentle light in her eyes darkened. Fury bubbled under her skin, but she swallowed it down, smoothed it over. This moment wasn't for anger. She reached out with a paw, brushing Jinglemoon's cheek with the barest touch before her smile returned, fond and full of affection. " Ye were one of the first that needed t'know... Ye've always been a good friend t'me, Jinglebells. " A deep purr rumbled in her chest, echoing through the den as she moved to settle herself, following the medicine cat with a grin still tugging at her muzzle.

" Aye, I think this one here's just right, soft and lovely, don'tcha think? " she chimed, picking out a nest and giving it a test wiggle before flashing a wink toward Rainpaw. " Ye bet yer whiskers I want yer apprentice hearin' both the good news and learnin' what all this kittin' and carryin' of wee tikes means! " Her chuckle was soft, but genuine, a balm against the gloom that had hung around them all. Lowering herself into the mossy bedding, she stretched once more and sighed contentedly. " Ye just tell me what I need t'do, sweet heart. " she purred, gaze flicking over to the apprentice with warm encouragement.

" And don'tcha fret, lil' one... " she added gently, " Yer gonna do just fine. Bein' a medicine cat ain't all wounds and worries. Sometimes, it's about welcomin' new life, too. "
