His coat is short, thick, and hard, providing protection against environmental elements, and outlining the shape of his bodily condition.   Torrentpaw was born as a Kittypet but was sold to a different owner at 10 weeks old, along with his siblings. He was raised at a gas station near the shipyard, where his primary role was to control the rodent population around the outskirts. He was fed leftover fish for every meal, which gave him a rather plump appearance. But this was short-lived, as the shipyard had begun to shut down soon after his arrival, and Torrentpaw was left behind by his twolegs.​
