Back at the Twolegplace, the rumors of the Clans had run rampant, but Fidgetpaw found little value in them after joining SkyClan. They were often over-exaggerated, he'd soon learn, and full of misinterpretations, half-truths—some were just plain lies. And yet, Fidgetpaw couldn't help but return to the whispers he had heard of StarClan and the Dark Forest, two afterlifes, one heavenly, the other hellish, that the Clans seemed to fervently believe. Fidgetpaw lacked a spiritual upbringing, or any strong moral compass, beyond the values his mother instilled in him, and thus, struggled to grasp the divine. However, he trusted that this deeper understanding of the world would reveal itself in due time.
But he didn't think it would happen today.
Fidgetpaw had drawn close to the RiverClan border while on a hunting patrol. The chilly evening air kissed his whiskers and nipped at his bones, while the leaf-fall breeze swept through his short, silverly black coat. Somewhere along the line, the apprentice had wandered too far from the group; he had been pursuing the scent of a vole and—considering his hunting skills required significant improvement—had no sooner lost it. So, Fidgetpaw now found himself utterly alone, his face contorted with severe worry and fright, as the sun dipped below the horizon and the shadows enveloped him.
"H-Hello?" The apprentice mustered the courage to call into the darkness. "I-Is anybody h-here?" Where did everyone go? Oh, how he craved the warmth of his nest right now. Hopefully, someone would find him soon.
