HOOT(WHISKER), 125 Moons // Barncat // He/They // #ffebcd
Chocolate spotted tabby with pronounced countershading and golden eyes.
Father to OWL(BEAR) and CHICKEN(SCRATCH)
Gruff and a little on the grumpy side around cats he's not familiar with. Big family man, adores his kids! Loves to tell stories and teach younger cats especially kits all he can. Might talk your ears off though. Some of his stories might be a little exaggerated but no cat is old enough to debunk them!

New Leaf was finally here! The snow that had once coated the fields and the barn like a cold blanket was starting to slowly melt away, giving way to new plant life as the frost that had once bitten at their whiskers was starting to also ebb away. Hoot would give a ruffle of their frost covered pelt after having been perched still for some time now, only the tips of their pelt had become frosted though while the rest of them had remained nice and warm. The tom would give a slow stretch as he got to his paws-- Which seemed quite large compared to most cats. A whole moon seemed to pass before the older cat was done with their stretching! Once done they glanced up from where they had been laying in a hay pile from within the barn, eyeing the support beams of the structure before carefully picking his way up onto one, claws digging into the wood in order to pull himself up onto one of the wooden beams.

Prowling across the plank of wood the brown tabby would stop at a nice sunny spot, plopping himself down into a perched position once more with a gentle thud. He'd gotten up from the hay nap just to have another nap in the sun? But of course! Hoot would settle down into a low rumble of a purr as he watched all that went on below him in the barn. The mice were back out and scampering about again now that the days had grown warmer, the sleepy spots were cozy and plentiful and his children were happy and well fed, there was plenty to purr about and he wondered if life could truly ever get better then this!

Owl wakes up from her slumber, sleepy, but well pleased. Her sibling was no doubt nearby, and their father… Where was their father…? She shakes off the last of the sleepiness, stretching her large paws out in front of her. They walk further into the barn, and knowing their father well, look up into the wooden beams that hang up high, squinting against the sunlight. She spots him in a particularly nice spot of sun, already looking ready to doze off. Owl sighs, a slight frown on her face as she weighs her options– they were not fond of heights, and their slightly rounded belly, her kits… perhaps she was just making excuses. Still, they eventually decided not to climb up there– no need for unnecessary risk…

"Dad?" Owl calls up, tone full of lazy amusement, from many moons of being safe and warm in the barn. "Come down here and spend some time with your daughter. I'm not taking my kits up there, and you shouldn't be up there either! Do you want your grandchildren to grow up without their grand dad?" She teases.

Most cats would slow down in their old age, choose safer napping spots, or overall be easier to find when needed. Hoot had done ... none of those things. It isn't new for Daz to look fruitlessly for the old tom at ground level, only to be informed by one of the other cats that he was up in the highest branches of the barn again.

That information, this time, is presented by her mate. The sight of her is enough to stop Daz in his tracks, even now. She's radiant in the warmth of daylight, motes of hay dust twinkling in the air around her, and Daz's stomach does a funny little flip-flop that's absolutely embarrassing.

Belatedly, he reminds himself to breathe.

Owl's voice carries with it a barely-there purr, coaxing the tawny tom to come down and spend time with her. The kits'll be here before he gets down, Owl, Daz resists the urge to whisper to her, but the corner of his maw quirks briefly as if he had.

She stops by Owl, nudging her shoulder in a gentle greeting, and then turns his own eyes upwards towards the grandfather-to-be.

"How'd you get all the way up there, Hoot?"

Daz's meow echoes that of her mate: warm with fondness and amusement, though faintly surprised to witness the old tom so high up in the barn.

CHICKENSCRATCH, She/Her / 50 moons / Future Skyclan Warrior
Long hair Amber 'blue' molly with flame point / short hair cream tabby chimera with golden eyes
Daughter of HOOT, Sibling of OWL(BEAR)
Super chill and a good listener, tends to look on the bright side wherever possible (maybe even a bit too much), almost always gives other cats silly nicknames so prepare yourself

Woo, New Leaf! It was time to groove and party— when was there ever a better season? Besides, well, all of them! Anycat knows how to see the best in everything. Chickenscratch was one such cat, others might argue that she did that to an extreme extent but she was never bothered by that, taking it in stride and choosing to see the best in even that!

Strutting around the wheat and grass, Chickenscratch could see her ol' pop up on a higher portion of the homestead! She let out a chuckle and bounded on over just to see what was going on since she heard a bit of a commotion too. "Howdy-hey, Owlybird!" Chickenscratch purred, momentarily ducking her head to 'greet' her future nieces and/or nephews. "Little Pawbeans~!" She snickered, twirling around to see her sister's mate. "An' Dazzley too, hihi~!"

Coming to a stop, Chickenscratch looked up towards her father, amazed that he had gone up there first of all— if he could do that he was still a spry one, it barely mattered that he was over a hundred moons old! That said, Owls concerns were valid. "Cheeep-hee~" Chickenscratch snorted her signature laugh. "C'mon now Poppa, you cannae jus' leave us behind down 'ere like that, it ain' polite!"

Despite his age Hoot's eyes were as sharp as ever and when he spotted the way Daz stopped in her tracks upon seeing Owl, the old toms' large whiskers would quiver as he chuckled in a way that sounded similar to the hooting of an owl. It was yet another blessing of life knowing that his kin were well loved, Daz was a kind soul and he knew that Owl would be well cared for with him around and as they ought to be as well! His children deserved nothing but what made them the most happy. Chicken too had seemed to have good luck when it came to love as well-- Though her mate didn't always hang around as often as Daz did. Hoot was yet to learn the lads' name but it would be easy for one to mistake the cat for a sheep instead with the way their pelt looked! What mattered most though was that they seemed to bring Chicken much joy, maybe with time they would come to spend more time around the family as a whole much like how Daz did now.

"Why, I climbed o'course!" Hoot would answer Daz's question with warm amusement to his usually rather gruff mew. The old tom was so used to these barns by now he supposed he'd forgotten how tricky it was to get up to the spot he was on now when he was in his younger moons. "I can show you's the right ways up if you'd like-- Once Owl is able to do so safely o'course" He share a warm smile down to Owl before slowly and somewhat begrudgingly getting to his large paws-- The spot was very comfy and warm but... "Awwwright awright, ah'm comin'!" How could they say no to getting to spend more time with their family?

Plucking his way down carefully from the wooden beam the broad tabby tom would eventually land softly in a pile of hay with a gentle thud, sliding down the pile before shaking scraps of straw from his paws and pelt. "But you know it's your old man's most favourite spot of all little feather!" Though he complained about being talked down from the spot by both his children Hoot was also so proud by how much the two had truly grown-- They certainly weren't kits anymore and hadn't been for many moons sure, but it was times like this were he was truly reminded of that and it made him teary eyed just a tad it did! Owl was going to be an amazing parent to those kits when the wee ones were ready to come join them.

Hoot would move forward to give both Chicken and Owl a gentle head bump before moving to do the same to Daz, his short but still fluffy tail held high all the while. "How much longer are they goin' to keep us all waitin' for then? Do ya two have any names picked out yet?" Hoot was as excited as ever to be a grand dad even though the kits weren't quite ready yet and practically purred the whole way through his questions!
