Welcome to RiverClan's assignment hub! Here will be our headquarters for all things "mentorship", with the main priority being pair assignments. See below for additional information and services.

Characters will randomly be assigned by Pikestar without confirmation of the pair unless otherwise requested. If you are hoping for a specific pairing, please let velou know through the discord!

  • In order for your character to be eligible for a non-NPC mentor or apprentice, please fill out the form below to be matched to a played character.

  • When it comes to assessments, Pikestar VELOU THIS IS WHERE YOU TALK ABOUT PIKES APPROACH TO TRAINING AND PAIRING MENTORS!

is still learning how to measure what makes an apprentice warrior material as opposed to one still in need of training. She generally tries to find value in what skills have prolonged her own life: the ability to hunt, the dexterity to escape dangerous situations, and the ability to subdue an attacker. Assessments still lack uniformity, being explored and fluctuating from apprentice to apprentice... what is expected of one may not be expected of another during this time which may leave some more prepared for the cruelties of the world more readily than others.

It is always up to the roleplayer of mentor and apprentice to determine their success of failure- they can be a great spot for development, for early graduations that shouldn't have been allowed to slip under the radar, or late bloomers who were ready and held back by over-cautious mentors!

Name: Adderfang
Experience level: Knowledgeable but inexperienced as a mentor.
Activity level: High and Primary
Notes: He is strict and thorough. No apprentice will leave his care until he's certain they are capable of success. That said, he is patient. Willing to demonstrate, and repeat himself a hundred times if he must.

Predetermined pairing is @Adderfang and @ROSE!

Reactions: ROSEPAW.
Name: Velvetpaw
Potential plots for apprenticeship: nothing mentor specific i don't think but I do plan on her at least starting to develop to be less angry at the the world towards the end of the apprenticeship (10/11 moons).
Activity level: casual to flexible, not a super high priority girl but not a background one either
Notes: she has a MOUTH on her and she is NOT AFRAID to use it, also she's afraid of water so gl to her mentor

Name: Fishgaze
Experience level: He is good at what he does, but has 0 experience as mentor
Activity level: casual / he is my primary boy but I'm full time student entering my last year of internship, so not a lot of free time in my hands
Notes: Fishgaze has no experience with mentoring, he will be more worried about looking cool to their apprentice than in fact teaching stuff. With the right apprentice, he can learn how to be a better mentor and show himself well suited for the role OR be totally manipulated by the apprentice who may get away with a lot of things if they insist it will make Fishgaze look cool to others.

Thank you!!

Name: Pigeonpearl
Experience level: Damn good at what she does & is a natural swimmer, but has not taught another at all
Activity level: High, secondary
Notes: Shes a little odd, doesn't verbally give praise much and will present gifts instead if she thinks they did something good; doesn't speak very much, so your apprentice may end up with a masters in body language LOL

Name: Peachy (going to be Peachtrot)
Experience level: None experience in mentoring but she is a strong swimmer, one of the first weavers of the clan, and enjoys a good rough housing!
Activity level: Flexible/High - Her cheerful personality finds me falling into her muse more than some of my other characters
Notes: Peachy is the sweetest little mentor! She'll be making sure her apprentice is comfortable with whatever their learning although she may end up being a bit more of a push-over. She'd probably try and include her apprentice in everything she does, from fishing, to weaving, to gossiping. Might suggest to have apprentice training dates with other mentors cause doing things as a group has always been the shipyard way in her mind, just like when they would kitsit together in the past!

Name: Foxtail
Experience level: knowledgeable, but has no experience as a mentor!
Activity level: high, fox is my main priority
Notes: this will be foxtail's first time mentoring, as he did not get to experience it back in the shipyard. not only will this be his first time mentoring, he will also be learning clan customs and rules alongside whomever is made to be his apprentice. he will be a little anxious at first; as he might not feel prepared to take on an apprentice so early into the Clan's formation. he will turn into an understanding, caring mentor who strives to make close bonds with his apprentice- as he will believe connecting to his apprentice will help him become a better mentor for future apprenticeships.

he will excel in teaching his apprentice to hunt and to memorize scents/tracking.

he might struggle with teaching his apprentice to fight, as foxtail is not a strong fighter... but will push himself to make sure his apprentice feels prepared. the same can be said for swimming, as foxtail has a fear of the water. the last thing he'd want to do is pass down his fear of water to his apprentice, so he'll step out of his comfort zone.

Name: Crescentpaw
Potential plots for apprenticeship: Crescentpaw is a little bit of an adrenaline chaser, as such he will probably be a magnet for dangerous situations throughout her apprenticehood! An ongoing plot would be to make her a little less shy around others that aren't family.
Activity level: flexible - (she's my priority character whenever I'm on site)
Notes: hiii velou (no notes)

Name: Russetfall
Experience level: Above Average Skill
Activity level: flexible
Notes: Currently injured so will not be as hands on as first, but will focus on defending oneself first and foremost. Struggles to connect with others so will seem aloof and cold at first.

Name: willowburn
Experience level: very good at what she does, with a knack for guiding younger cats, though no formal mentor experience.
Activity level: primary character! goal is around 15 posts per month give or take a few.
Notes: -> a confident teacher with a forgiving teaching style
-> will expect a close bond with her apprentices, but willing to go at the apprentice's pace
-> excellent at swimming and fishing, but will also teach the importance of land hunting, specifically rodents, as she is good at that as well.
-> a good fighter, although she promotes diplomacy over violence. she will work with her apprentice to develop their own fighting style.
-> readily gives out compliments- good for an apprentice with low self esteem.
-> in the event she receives a boastful or hotheaded apprentice, she will change tactics, and has the ability to become hardened.
-> emphasizes loyalty, but will emphasize the importance of making one's own choices.

Name: Amberpaw
Potential plots for apprenticeship:
- Amber's been raised to have a wariness of water so, while she's been taught to keep herself afloat, she has no experience really trying to swim or dive. I plan on her discovering that she's got a natural talent for swimming that might put her on the path toward becoming a pearl-diver. Her mentor would likely play a massive role in this shift by being the one to guide her to learn how to swim and fish well!
- She is generally very sure of herself and might have moments where she gets frustrated if she thinks she's not being pushed. I can see her occasionally trying to butt heads with her mentor over that and would likely benefit from being paired with someone who can bring her down to earth a little bit.
Activity level: Flexible! She's my only character, but I am in my second semester of senior year at college so I'm pretty busy. I'm aiming to be decently active.
Notes: N/A

Name: Wavesong
Experience level: Skilled
Activity level: Flexible
Notes: Wave will be patient and warm, she will tell stories to her apprentices and try to teach them both how to survive as to how to be a good cat.

Name: Sharkpaw
Potential plots for apprenticeship: Mostly Ic development over time
-- learning to rely on others
-- not being so angry all the time
-- accepting his parents death in a healthy manner
-- potential bonding with his mentor over time (Shark can be a brat and isn't always respectful/obedient)
Activity level: casual/flexible (I'd like to be more active with him and feel like an active mentor could help that.
Notes: Shark is an orphan with an aversion to authority. He's used to taking care of himself and doesn't like to be seen as weak or 'kitten-like'. He's going to take the whole 'becoming a warrior' thing pretty seriously and will absolutely yell at his mentor if he feel they're slacking. Wants to prove he's the best and won't be happy with anything less in his potential mentor.
